DECOM 2022 - 21st-22nd February 2022

As a part of the activities under this research project, publications and conferences are enlisted. On 22nd February, one conference paper was presented by Research Assistant Shaumik Sharif on behalf of all the co-authors involved with this project. The conference paper is hopefully due to be published within May 2022.

On 31st March 2022, the first online seminar entitled"Ship Recycling in Bangladesh from Global Perspective: Current Practices and Way Forward" will be hosted and arranged jointly by the project partners. This seminar will be a collaborative discussion involving the project partners, industry stakeholders (Bangladesh Shipbreakers Association - BSBA), safety agencies, Ministry of Industries representatives and consultants, academicians, and practitioners involved with the ship recycling systems.

On 1st July 2021, the first official online meeting was conducted between the representatives of the Project partners and the focal person representing the industrial partnering organization to this project - Kabir Steel Ltd. The discussion was primarily made to put into the knowledge of Kabir Steel the main agenda behind this project and how Kabir Steel can contribute as an industrial resource partner to the best interest of this project and in aiding to this project's success as a whole.


Kabir Steel assured of providing all sorts of support and assistance regarding the provision to collect data based on surveys and field visit access to the project stakeholders. Also, Kabir Steel would also be the first organization where the project's one of the objective tasks (conducting Hazard and Operability i.e. HAZOP studies) would be initiated from the second quarter of 2022.
